The AUTHORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE BUILDING HAS NEVER SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE SINCE IT WAS INAUGURATED.
The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) building located at Jalan Sultan Hasanuddin Dalam Number 1, Kramat Pela Village, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta was burnt down on fire on Saturday night (22/8/2020).
Even until Sunday morning (23/8/2020), firefighters were still working on cooling down at the scene. However, at 6:28 a.m. WIB, the fire that had scorched the Attorney General's building was extinguished.
Responding to this, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin admitted that a severe fire in the Main Office of the AGO on Saturday night since 7:10 p.m. also engulfed his office. However, he confirmed that the AGO's case data and documents were not in the burning building.
This unfortunate accident was very surprising in the middle of a long holiday since Thursday (20/8/2020) and Joint Leave on Friday (21/8/2020). Moreover, the AGO building , which was established in 1968, has never suffered significant damage since it was inaugurated.
Citing the Online Law site, the AGO building was once located on Jalan Lapangan Banteng Timur Number 2-4, Central Jakarta, or in an area with the Supreme Court (MA) building.
On November 10, 1961, the AGO building in Kebayoran Baru was built so that it was no longer adjacent to the Supreme Court. At that time, Attorney General R Goenawan laid down the first stone of the building.
Referring to the AGO website, Goenawan served as Attorney General for the period 31 December 1959-1962. This separation has also been carried out since the enactment of Law Number 15 of 1961 concerning the Main Provisions of the Attorney General's Office.
The construction of the AGO building was only completed during the reign of President Soeharto. This building was inaugurated by Attorney General Soegih Arto on July 22, 1968. Brigadier General Soegih Arto served as Attorney General for the period 27 March 1966 - 1973, and was the first Attorney General during the New Order era.
As a tribute, a statue of Soeprapto was placed in front of the main office of the AGO. This statue was inaugurated by Soegih Arto on July 22, 1969. Soeprapto was the Attorney General for the period 1951-1959.
Asvi Warman Adam, the principal researcher of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) , in his article entitled Remembering the Courage of Attorney General Soeprapto , revealed that Soeprapto was one of the attorneys general who was very strict.
"Soeprapto wants to realize the ideals of a rule of law as mandated by the constitution and to apply the Trias Politica principle consequently. Therefore, he is trying to uphold an Attorney General's office that is autonomous and independent of the executive power," Asvi said, quoted from the LIPI website.
"As a prosecutor Soeprapto is very strict. He does not hesitate to impose the death sentence. Like the one imposed on Kutil, a champion from Talang, Tegal. Warts that have been proven at court to commit a series of murders, finally October 21, 1946, was sentenced to death. He was listed as a recipient. the first death sentence in Indonesia after the independence period", said Asvi, who is also a historian.
Previously, during the Dutch and Japanese times, Soeprapto had demanded the death penalty four times for cases of sadistic murder. Therefore, the existence of the statue is a tribute to the Adhyaksa Corps.
Still quoting Hukum Online, based on the book "Portrait of 47 Years of the Republic of Indonesia Attorney", stated that during the leadership era of Attorney General Soegih Arto and Ali Said, Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) and Junior Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) were still members of the Prosecutor Supreme Young Operation (Jamops). The two were only split after 1983 under the leadership of the 11th Attorney General, Ismail Saleh.
Lieutenant General TNI Ismail Saleh served as Attorney General from 1981-1984. At the same time, Ismail also held a Research and Development Center, a Center for Legal Counseling and a Center for Intelligence Operations.
Ismail Saleh started building the Jampidum office which is located behind the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas) building. The construction of the Jampidum office was followed by the construction of a round building which would later function as the Jampidsus office. A round building was built on the right side of the AGO field.
Before the round building was completed, Jampidsus temporarily had his office in a house on Jalan Adityawarman Number 6, Kebayoran Baru. Former Deputy Attorney General for Development, Marthen Pongrekun, stated that the construction of the unique building was due to the small size of the land.
After the construction was completed, Jampidsus Himawan and his members moved to the round building. The XII Attorney General Hari Soeharto inaugurated the use of the Jampidsus building with the name "Graha Andhika Anuwika" which means Nan Indah Building, the place for examination and investigation on the 24th day of Bhakti Adhyaksa, 22 July 1984.
